Volo Auto Museum

this museum was born from the love of a family to a classic cars, In 1960, William Grams moved his family to a 30-acre dairy farm in Volo, Illinois and established a used-furniture business. Eventually, the property and the business would evolve to become the Volo Auto Museum

William and his two sons, Greg and Bill, loved to tinker with old cars. Bill's first car was a 1929 Packard Coupe that he purchased at a junkyard and restored to showroom condition. Greg was 12 when his father bought him a Ford Model-T for $30. While Bill was away at Monmouth University, William and Greg started buying up junk cars. Soon, the family's uninsulated, gravel-floored warehouse was packed with pre-war cars and parts.

Today more than 500.000 people visit the family's complex each year.

Gilmore Car Museum

History
The Gilmore Car Museum was Found by Donald Gilmore, began in 1963 as the hobby of Donald S. Gilmore when his wife, Genevieve, gave him an antique car for his birthday —a 1920 Pierce-Arrow “project car.” With the help of some friends, the auto was placed under a tent and a full restoration followed. The hobby soon grew into a collection of over 30 automobiles. Mr. Gilmore purchased 90 acres of farm property and had several historic barns dismantled piece by piece and moved to the site.

Today, more than 130 antique, classic and collector car on display, the site includes eight historic barns, a re-created 1930s service station, a small town train station, and nearly three miles of paved roads. Dreams of finding an “old car in a barn” are a daily reality here.
